Hitting the Streets of South Beach

MIAMI, Fla. (Sept. 23, 2009) -- IndyCar veteran and Indy Racing Experience driver Davey Hamilton hit the streets of South Beach on Wednesday in the street-legal 2-seater to help promote the IndyCar Series season finale Oct. 10 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

But he wasn't alone.

Riding shotgun, err, behind Hamilton was NBC 6's Adam Kuperstein, equipped with his own video camera and all. Blown away by the concept of the popular street-legal 2-seater, Kuperstein opted to stop at various locations throughout South Beach to show the car off.

As the car came to a stop on Ocean Drive in South Beach, Kuperstein asked a pair of male onlookers, "You think this car will help me pick up chicks?"

It didn't take him long to find out.

Throughout the lengthy ride, several onlookers from sidewalks and other cars, reached for their cameras and cell phones to capture this rare moment of an Indy car driving on the streets...with someone in the backseat.

"This car gets more pictures with camera phones than anything I've ever seen," said Hamilton.

Kuperstein's appetite then got the best of him, so Hamilton was quick to turn in to a local Checkers drive-thru for lunch. Sorry Adam, the car does not come with cup holders!

The other thing the car doesn't have? A roof.

Needless to say that didn't stop the two from at least trying to take the car through the automatic car wash.

Both Hamilton and Kuperstein accomplished what they set out to do on Wednesday, and that was to raise awareness about the upcoming IndyCar race in Homestead on Oct. 10.
