Hewlett-Packard 2-Seat IndyCar and Jim Beam 2-Seat NASCAR filmed racing on Brickyard's backstretch

If you happened to watch the opening package of the Indianapolis 500 broadcast on ABC this year and thought you saw a familiar paint scheme blazing down the backstretch at the Brickyard, your eyes were not playing with your mind.  Yes, that was the Indy Racing Experience/Hewlett-Packard 2-seater side-by-side with a MotoGP bike and EMI’s Jim Beam street-legal 2-seater.

For years one of the most anticipated moments of ABC’s broadcast of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” has been the opening montage.  The sights, the sounds and the tradition of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway come to light in the Emmy award-winning package that spans the first few minutes of the annual broadcast.  

This season’s montage, which celebrated the centennial anniversary of the Brickyard, highlighted several different IndyCar models spanning the last century as well as some of the other types of machines that have graced the hallowed grounds.

And when the ABC/ESPN production crew needed an IndyCar and a NASCAR to film on track, they turned to the Indy Racing Experience and its sister company, Experiential Marketing Incorporated, to make it happen.

Within hours of the request, IRE and EMI provided its HP 2-seater and Jim Beam street-legal 2-seater to take laps around the IMS while the ABC/ESPN crew filmed the on-track action.

“Whether it is a request that is planned way in advance or in the 11th hour, we have a track record of getting things done,” said IRE/EMI co-owner Scott Jasek.  “Providing those two cars not only showed our company’s versatility and wide variety of assets, but it also put Hewlett-Packard and Jim Beam in front of the eyes of the entire world who were tuned in to watch the world’s greatest race.”
