Popular racing attraction partners with IndyCar Series to promote upcoming 2009 season

The Indy Racing Experience helped give race fans a glimpse of warmer weather to come this past weekend at the “Gathering Before the Green Flag” event at the Indiana State Museum.  Despite late-January temperatures dropping below 20 degrees and the occasional snow flurry on Sunday, racing enthusiasts flocked to the two-day event to see the best that Indiana racing has to offer.

The Indy Racing Experience shared exhibit space with the IndyCar Series on both Saturday and Sunday, and spent time talking to visitors about the upcoming IndyCar season and the Indy Racing Experience’s new daily operation at the Walt Disney World® Speedway in Orlando.  Race fans were drawn to the popular exhibit, which was flanked by the Target Chip Ganassi cut-away car and two Andretti Green Racing show cars, including Danica Patrick’s popular black and blue Motorola No. 7 machine and Raphael Matos’ AFS No. 27 car, which was used in the Firestone Indy Lights series last year.

At the IndyCar Series/Indy Racing Experience booth, one of over 40 exhibits at the museum, fans had a chance to watch several highlights of the 2008 IndyCar season as well as the in-car video from the Indy Racing Experience’s 2-seater at every IndyCar track.

Several individuals of all ages spoke of past Indy Racing Experience memories and inquired about the new year-round operation at the Walt Disney World® Speedway.  Many onlookers also learned about the Indy Racing Experience and its popular riding and driving programs for the first time.

Needless to say they walked away instant fans.

In addition, the Indy Racing Experience crew met with Radio Disney on Sunday and was interviewed by the popular Indianapolis-based RaceFanRadio.com as well.

“We were real happy with the attendance this year and pleased with how many people brought kids to the event,” said Mike King, the Voice of the IMS Radio Network and the host of the second-annual Gathering Before the Green Flag event.  “We don’t have to win over race fans with this event, so it’s nice when we are also able to introduce new fans to a wide variety of Indiana racing.”
