Indy Racing Experience Unveils 2009 Schedule and New Look to Website
Several new additions highlight the 2009 schedule, including the Indy Racing Experience’s daily operation at the Walt Disney World® Speedway. The IRE expanded to the Orlando area in November and now offers race fans the opportunity to both ride and drive in an IndyCar Series machine year-round at the 1-mile tri-oval located just outside the Magic Kingdom® Park at the Walt Disney World® Resort. Thrill seekers can get behind the wheel and drive eight laps for $399 or take a three-lap ride in our purposed-built 2-seater for just $109 plus tax. "The Indy Racing Experience's expansion to Orlando and the Walt Disney World® Speedway has been well received," said Indy Racing Experience co-owner Scott Jasek. "There has been great interest and daily sales coming by phone, but we are beginning to see a lot of Walt Disney World® visitors walking over to the track and checking us out after hearing our cars fly around the track." Since 2001, IRE patrons have traveled the globe to experience IndyCar racing at the world’s most historic track – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Indy Racing Experience will once again return to the IMS and operate 25 dates from May 4 to Oct. 2. Eleven of those 25 dates will come in the popular month of May, when all of racing will turn its attention to the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500, the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. The IRE riding and driving programs at Indianapolis will each cost $499 for the 2009 season. The Indy Racing Experience is also set for another full year of promoting the IndyCar Series. The IRE will travel all over North America offering its popular 2-seater ride at every track on the 2009 ICS schedule, with exception of Motegi, Japan. The season begins Thursday, April 2, on the 1.8-mile street course that winds through the Streets of St. Petersburg. The IRE made its debut at the spacious 1.973-mile Edmonton City Centre Airport course last season and will make two new trips in 2009 to the Streets of Long Beach and Toronto. Both street circuits, measured at 1.968 and 1.721 miles, respectively, were added this past fall to the 2009 IndyCar Series schedule. The redesign of indyracingexperience.com not only offers fans a more convenient and efficient way to reserve their experiences, but it will also offer frequent news stories, ride/drive fan features, photo galleries and an online store. Indy Racing Experience followers will also have a chance to ride around each IndyCar Series track, as well as the Walt Disney World® Speedway, by checking out our in-car 2-seater video online. "The Internet is a very important tool for our company as it is a way for customers all around the world to reserve their own Indy Racing Experience at any hour of the day," Jasek said. "At the same time, our website enables both our headquarters in Indianapolis and our daily operation at Disney to function together in a much more efficient manner." In addition, indyracingexperience.com, which was designed by Indianapolis-based Congdon Web, will give patrons the chance to buy gift certificates online, purchase and personalize front nose wings or helmets for their office or home, and search through our available inventory of used race equipment, ranging from parts to fire suits.
